Former national team’s skipper, Kanu Nwankwo, has commended the Super Eagles over their 2-1 win over their Ethiopian counterparts in Addis Ababa on Sunday.
Shortly after the Super Eagles’ hard earned victory, the former African Footballer of the year and Nigeria’s football ambassador expressed his joy as the team draws closer to picking the Brazil 2014 World Cup ticket.
His words: “I am very happy with the performance of our boys against Ethiopia. I like to say well done to the boys, Coach Stephen Keshi and his staff. Commendation should also go to Mr. President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, for supporting the team.
“The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, and other board members for the good job on the national team.”
Kanu however opined that the battle to qualify for the World Cup is not yet over, as he said: “We need to go back and work harder to finish them up in the second leg in Calabar.”
