As the world celebrates this year’s edition of the International Women’s Day, women have been encouraged to maximise use of technology in all spheres of its establishment, especially as it concerns day-to-day business activities.
This year’s International Women’s Day is themed: “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality.”
In Nigeria, the Convener of Arise Women and Handmaiden Women in Leadership, Dr. Siju Iluyomade, who has been in forefront of women emancipation, empowerment and leadership for decades, will also be holding a special edition of Handmaidens Women in Leadership with the topic: “Leading Women Leveraging Technology In Market Place.”
This will be held on March 8, 2023 at the Redeemed Christian of Church, City of David Sanctuary, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to Dr. Sijum as she is fondly called: “From the earliest days of computing to the present age of virtual reality and artificial intelligence, women have made untold contributions to the digital world in which we increasingly live.
“Their accomplishments have been against all odds, in a field that has historically neither welcomed nor appreciated them
“Today, a persistent gender gap in digital access keeps women from unlocking technology’s full potential.”
A practicing Lawyer of over three decades, Iluyomade, in line with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, has empowered lots of women during technology educational workshops, which they can use to propel their different areas of endeavour.
She said: “There must be gender equality in the technology and digital world because women have consistently played leadership roles in developing new initiatives that have continued to change the global space.”
She also urged women to make sure they apply technology in their businesses to easier and faster results.
Meanwhile, lots of women both young and old have indicated interest to attend this year’s special handmaiden Women in Leadership event.
