Nigerian midfielder, John Obi Mikel, is in a race to be fit for Chelsea’s Champions League game against Basle on Wednesday night.
Mikel, who picked up a knee injury during Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat of Everton last Saturday, had an intense treatment regime, which could keep him out of the European competition.
Mikel’s injury may force Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, to reshuffle his midfield with Frank Lampard and David Liuz to start in the holding role since Ramires will not be available for the game as he is serving his one match ban following his controversial red card against Bayern Munich last month.
Meanwhile, Mikel has urged his teammates at Chelsea to be ruthless in front of goal in their campaign in all competitions this season.
His words: “We all know that it was difficult a difficult game against Everton.
“We were here at Everton more possession than them, but then you have to do something with it, then you have to exploit the opportunities. I think that’s something we need to work hard in training.”
