Imo Deputy Governor hails APC’s town hall meeting initiative

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has commended the All Progressives Congress town hall meeting through which government could interact with  Nigerians on their effort in governance, describing it as a veritable feedback mechanism.
Prince Madumere made this remark shortly after the Ministerial Town Hall meeting at Nike Lake Hotels and Resort in Enugu State on Tuesday, while interacting with newsmen.
He described the event as a hallmark of democratic governance, saying such gathering will give government the opportunity to evaluate the impact of its policies, inform the people on its direction in certain grey areas, while getting first hand information on the actual needs and what agitates the people’s mind.
He therefore commended the Federal Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, and his colleagues for a job well done.
Madumere made a call for a joint effort towards tackling the issue of agriculture head on with a view to attaining food sufficiency.
He extolled the panelists who are Mohammed; Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu; Minister of Labour and Employment, Chief Chris Ngige; and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffery Onyeama, among others for a job well done.
He however revealed that the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has long seen the realities when he flagged off Plant a Palm and other exotic economic trees programme.
He also said that in a bid to make farming attractive, Okorocha also created the “Millionaires Club” where the youths are trained in specialized areas of agriculture and agribusiness.
He used the opportunity to appeal to Nigerians to be patient with the Buhari-led Federal Government given the economic realties.
He pointed out that the APC-led government is already making a difference, hailing the government for meticulous and effective management of the economy even in the face of present downturn in the economy.
Meanwhile, other grey issues that bordered on State Creation, Second Niger Bridge, dilapidated South East roads, railway, lopsided appointment system to mention but a few.
Among others who were present at the interactive session were Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State as the host; Deputy Senate President, Rt. Hon. Ike Ekweremadu; Deputy Governors of Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi States; traditional rulers; private and public sectors; civil society groups; and the media.
