The Nigeria Police on Saturday denied it has launched a manhunt for a journalist with Liberty Television, Aminu Nurudeen, for allegedly circulating the video in which the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, committed serious blunders while reading a speech in Kano, Kano State.
The Force had warned newsmen at the event not to report that aspect of the launch of the Tactical Units of the Kano State Police Command by Idris.
However, the video managed to find its was out, going viral in a few minutes.
A report by credible newspaper, Saturday Punch, has it that the spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, SP Magaji Musa Majiya, had on Thursday invited Nurudeen for questioning.
He has not been seen since then.
But Majia in a statement on Saturday described the news as false in its entirety and an act by mischief makers.
He said no journalist was arrested or invited by the Command for interrogation over the video clip.
He said it is crystal clear that the Command maintains cordial relationship with the State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the Correspondent Chapel and all bloggers.
