The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Wednesday ordered for the inspection and analysing of all the election materials.
The governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in the April 11, 2015 election, Senator G.N.S. Pwajok, petitioned the election tribunal seeking the nullification of the election of Barrister Simon Bako Lalong, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The proceedings of the case was given a boost on Wednesday as the Tribunal Chairman, Justice Johnson Candide, said so far 10 PDP witnesses testified before the court and that the pre-hearing trial session report was relevant in the application brought before it through the counsels to Pwajok, Yilji Gomwalk, and the PDP.
Candide said during the pre-trial, the counsels had in their petition told the court they will be presenting between 30 and 40 witnesses and one other application, while the counsels to the APC had said they would present 20 to 24 witnesses.
In his ruling, Justice Candide said the court had ordered that the petitioner be allowed additional 10 days from the initial seven days to inspect and submit materials and thus wouldn’t come back to refuse accepting the materials so sought to enhance the chances of the petition.
