Dr. Amina, the wife of the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, on Sunday solicited support for the less privileged in the society.
Dr. Bello made the call during the inauguration ceremony of the 29th District Chairman and executives of the Inner Wheel District 913, Nigeria in Bida Local Government Area of the state.
She called on well meaning Nigerians to imbibe the culture of catering for the poor.
She promised that the government will partner with individuals and organisations in alleviating the sufferings of the people so that the living standards of the people will improve.
According to her: “I call on all well meaning Nigerians and indeed Nigerlites to support the less privileged.
“I also encourage you to continue on the humanitarian and philanthropic path espoused in the discharge of your activities irrespective of religion and ethnic differences.
“I commend your humanitarian gestures on meaningful projects that touch and affect the lives of the people.”
Bello, who was represented by a Director in the state Ministry of Gender Affairs, Mary Yisa, added that the state government would collaborate with the district in all gender-related projects and programmes.
Also, Dr. Abubakar Dzukogi, the Chairman of the occasion and Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, called for unity among members, adding that the organization is not for individual benefits but humanitarian services to society.
In her speech, District 913 Chairman, Florence Arogundade, said Inner Wheel would continue to uphold the tenets that established it, adding that societal good is a task that must be achieved.
Arogundade pointed out that Inner Wheel would continue to promote true friendship, encourage ideas of personal service to foster local, national and international understanding and friendship.
Arogundade said the district would embark on more projects such as sinking of boreholes as well as widows and youth empowerment.
Other projects would include free health care, donation of instructional materials to schools and awareness and campaign on cervical cancer.
