Two members of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and Umar Bago, have been nominated by their colleagues to contest for the Speakership of the 9th House.
The nomination of the two members followed the inauguration of the House of Representatives by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori.
The first task of the inauguration, based on the proclamation of President Muhammadu Buhari, is the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House.
According to Sani-Omolori, the election of the nominated members, who both belong to the All Progressives Congress, will be conducted by the Open Secret Ballot system.
As at press time, the ballot boxes had been positioned for voting by the 360 members of the House to commence.
