Three hostels and items worth thousands of naira have been destroyed by fire at Government Science Secondary School, Sandamu, Katsina State.
An eyewitness told the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Katsina that the fire occurred on Monday at about 12.30pm when the students were already in classes.
The fire, the cause of which was yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report, razed down three hostel blocks in the school.
NAN learnt that although none of the students was injured, some of them who have just returned from the Eid-el-Kabir holiday, lost their belongings in the inferno.
The eyewitness told NAN that the fire lasted for three hours before it was brought under control through the combined efforts of the fire service officials from Daura, security men and staff of Sandamu Local Government Area.
Some of the affected students called on the members of the public to come to their aid.
When contacted, the Principal of the school, Hajiya Fatima Ahmed, declined comment over the incident.
