FG pledges to act on Economic Summit recommendations – NESG

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group says it has the assurance of the Federal Government that the recommendations of the recent National Economic Summit will be implemented.
This was contained in a statement by the Chief Executive Officer of NESG, Laoye Jaiyeola, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja.
Jaiyeola said the Federal Government had pledged to act on the recommendations, currently being compiled for transmission to the Federal Executive Council.
NAN reports that the 21st edition of NES, held in Abuja, had the theme: “Tough choices: Achieving competitiveness, inclusive growth and sustainability.”
The NESG had on October 15 presented the report of the summit to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The report was received by Babachir Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, on behalf of President Buhari after the three-day summit.
Jaiyeola also appreciated the contributions of the stakeholders to the success of the summit, noting that the summit was a resonant success.
He said it was successful, particularly insightful and thought provoking sessions such as the Presidential Policy Dialogue and sessions with state governors and the legislature.
The official solicited the support of the stakeholders and urged them to plan for the 2016 edition of the summit.
According to him, the 2016 edition of the summit is scheduled to hold from October 11 to 13.
NESG was incorporated in 1996 as non-profit, non-partisan private sector organisation, with a mandate to promote and champion the reform of Nigerian economy into an open, private sector-led globally competitive economy.
