The Federal Executive Council has approved N700 million for the completion of abandoned federal secretariats in Anambra, Bayelsa, Gombe, Nasarawa, Osun and Zamfara States.
Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, said this on Wednesday in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the FEC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Fashola said that fund for the completion of the secretariat projects, abandoned since 2012, had been captured in the 2016 budget.
He said the projects, when completed, would accommodate the staff of the Federal Government deployed to the affected states.
Fashola said: “The second one (memo) is the ongoing projects for the construction of Federal Secretariats to accommodate officers of the federal government posted to states in order to render service to them.
“Again, this is another ongoing projects which had stalled since 2012 or there about.
“They are in Anambra, Bayelsa, Gombe, Nasarawa, Osun and Zamfara states.
“They are at various stages of completion. There have been changes in cost as a result of project designs, amendment, cases where original location and contract are changed and they have to be redesigned in such structure.’’
The minister also said that the council approved the completion of the abandoned Katsina 10Megawatts Wind Farm Power project in Katsina state.
According to him, the wind farm project is part of government’s strategic plan for renewable energy and that the project is a major component of the government’s road map towards achieving incremental power in the country.
Fashola noted that the contract cost of the power project escalated following the kidnapping of the contractor, who after being rescued abandoned the project.
Contributing, the Minister of State for Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika, also said the council had approved an outline business case for Industrial Port Development in Badagry, Lagos State.
Sirika said the council further approved the relocation of a training simulator from Lagos to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria in Kaduna State for training of pilots and engineers.
