Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has commissioned 4.3 kilometre road at Bosso Estate worth the sum of N577,607,101.54 in Minna, the Niger state capital.
Fayemi who is the Chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum at the official commissioning of the road network emphasized the need for proper maintenance culture.
He stated that the country is going through a challenging moment due to limited resources, adding that all the governors are trying to meet the yearnings of their various states to ensure provision of dividend of democracy within the limited resources available to them.
He then assured Nigerians of government welfare and security of their lives and properties being the primary objectives of governance.
According to him, “the last congress was very good. Naturally when you are in a competition, there might be few skirmishes along the line but when you speak collectively, I think you can give us a pass mark for what has happened”.
Niger state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, in his speech, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approved funds for states development as well as funds for road construction which will alleviate the plight of the citizenry.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Works, Mamman Musa said that the contracts were 2.7 kilometre and 1.6 kilometre respectively awarded to different companies for a duration of three dry months but was delayed due to the impact of Covid-19.
He applauded Governor Bello for embarking on over 299 projects which include 235 kilometre roads thus far at cost efficient rate.
