Fashola, Amaechi, Fayemi, Kachikwu, 17 others make ministerial list

Three former governors and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, are among those The Punch is reporting to have made the ministerial list submitted to the Senate by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.
The three former governors are Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) and Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti).
The surprise name on the list is Kachikwu.
However, it is believed that Kachikwu will combine his present responsibility with being the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.
Buhari had on Tuesday night in an interview with newsmen in New York, United States of America said he remains the substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources.
Also reported to be on the ministerial list submitted to the Senate on Wednesday were a former Governor of Anambra State, Chris Ngige; and a one-time Governor of Abia State, Ogbonaya Onu.
Malami Abubakar (SAN), a former National Legal Adviser to the defunct Congress for Progressives Change; Aisha Alhassan, a former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Taraba State; and Amina Mohammed, a Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United nations, Ban Ki-Moon, were also reported to have made the list.
The name of a former Commissioner for Finance in Ogun State, Kunle Adeosun, was also said to have been sighted on the list.
Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, submitted the list to the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
The list was submitted after the Senate had ended plenary and adjourned till Tuesday.
In this wise, Saraki said the list would be unveiled only on Tuesday.
It was learnt that the list is the first in the series to be submitted to the Senate.
Based on the 1999 Constitution, the country is not expected to have less than 37 ministers.
A Presidency source said Buhari was still doing his due diligence on other names to be forwarded to the Senate as ministers.
