Six of those suspected to have kidnapped a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, have been arrested.
Part of the proceeds from the ransom received from the Falae family before he was freed was also said to have been recovered from the kidnappers, who are believed to be Fulani herdsmen.
The suspects were said to have been arrested in different parts of Ondo, Niger and Ekiti States.
It was learnt that the operation was led by a special squad under the office of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase.
The suspects, according to sources, are being detained at the headquarters of the Ondo State Police Command in Akure.
However, sources said not all of them have been arrested.
The spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, said it was only Arase that could confirm developments on the case.
Joseph told newsmen: “The kidnap of Chief Falae was a national issue.
“It has been taken over by the Inspector General of Police.
“All the issue that has to do with Chief Falae is being handled by the IGP himself.
“I am sure that IGP will brief newsmen on the development as regards the kidnap of Chief Falae.”
