Tee Mac Omatshola, a former President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, on Tuesday called on the Federal Government to issue visas to prospective investors at the nation’s airports.
Omatshola, who made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, said the move would attract more foreign investments into the country.
He said government should introduce such a measure to particularly attract potential investors in the entertainment industry.
He said: “The industry will develop if many investors are given visas to come into the country and invest.
“Nigeria would make more money when more foreign entertainers are given the opportunity to come into the country and invest.”
Omatshola, however, stressed that potential investors should be more interested in investing in a country that had favourable economic indices.
He, therefore, urged the Federal Government to tackle the security challenges facing some part of the country decisively, so as to attract prospective investors.
He said: “Some foreign investors are complaining about insecurity and multiple charges.
“Government should create an enabling environment and reduce multiple charges, to attract the investors.”
Omatshola stressed that Nigeria should take a cue from other countries, which issued entry visas to certain categories of visitors at their airports.
“If Nigeria could emulate such countries, it would increase the number of investors and improve the nation’s Gross Domestic Product.”
