Foremost FIFA referee, Festus Bolaji Okubule, otherwise known as Showboy, is dead.
Okubule, according to his daughter, Shola Taiwo, breathed his last on Tuesday evening in a Lagos State hospital.
The deceased would forever remain a reference in the history of Nigerian football.
For more than four decades, Okubule officiated several domestic matches as well international matches across the length and breadth of Africa.
Okubule made history when he officiated at the World Military Schools’ Competition in Kuwait in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Taiwo Wuraola Okubule, and children and grand children.
He was aged 80.
