Equity for all, my rule – Gov. Abubakar

Governor Mohammed Abubakar has reiterated his administration’s determination and commitment towards ensuring peaceful coexistence among the followers of the two major religions in the state.
The Governor said this on Thursday when he received in audience the Bishop and other clerics of the Bauchi Catholic Diocese, led by Bishop Hillary Dachem, at the Council Chamber of the Government House, Bauchi.
Abubakar said since the inception of his administration, he had set machinery in motion to have a state where all and sundry can live together in peace, unity and harmony.
The idea, according to the Governor, is to give a sense of belonging to the people of the state irrespective of religious or ethnic inclinations.
The Governor further stated that to ensure the required results, he appointed a Special Assistant on Christian Liaison and another officer non indigenes.
He maintained that Bauchi State is a multi-cultural society and equity for all is his ground rule, stressing that there are no second class citizens as all are equal and living peacefully without discrimination.
Abubakar promised to look into the possibility of establishing a Centre for Peace in the state and increase in government sponsorship for Jerusalem Pilgrimage.
The leader of the delegation expressed the loyalty and support of the Bauchi Diocese to the present administration in the state and also thanked the Governor for the support rendered to them.
Bishop Dachem used the forum to commend President Muhammadu Buhari for addressing the issue of insecurity and effort being made to tackle corruption in the country.
He commended Abubakar for being fair to the Christian community in the state, prompt payment of salaries and provision of developmental projects across all the nooks and crannies of the state especially human capital development.
