Enyimba International’s Rashid Olabiyi’s goal against Abia Warriors received majority favourable rating in the Glo Premier League Wonder Goal Series voting, which ended at midnight on October 4.
Olabiyi’s goal in one of the Match Day 24 fixtures on August 17 was a blinder fired from 25 yards that got Enyimba back into the game a second time.
The encounter ended 3-3 between the two Abia State clubs.
At the conclusion of voting, Olabiyi polled 71.1 per cent of the total votes in the poll conducted through the League Management Company media platforms, including www.lmc-ng.org, the Facebook and Twitter accounts.
El-Kanemi Warriors Emmanuel Ajia edged Dolphins Ifeanyi Egwim to third place after securing 14.5 per cent of the votes against Egwim’s 13. 3 per cent.
“We are delighted to announce the latest winner in our Wonder Goal campaign which was initiated to deepen Club-Community engagement and also show-case spectacular goals scored this season in the Glo Premier League,” read a statement from the office of the LMC Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar.
Abubakar announced that the N100,000 cash prize presentation will hold on October 8 at half time of the Match Day 31 fixture between Enyimba International and Sharks of Port Harcourt in Aba.
Fifty per cent of the cash prize of the Wonder Goal Award is donated to a charity organization to be nominated by the winner, who also receives a commemorative plaque at the presentation ceremony.
Previous Wonder Goal Award winners are Rangers duo of Osaguona Ighodaro, Emeka Eze and Bayelsa United’s Oduokpe Oghogho.
