The wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Olufunso Amosun, has encouraged the people of the state to embrace the new Community-based Health Insurance Scheme provided by the present administration to ensure quality and affordable healthcare delivery that will boost the health indicators and contribute to development.
Amosun, during the flag-off ceremony of the scheme at the Primary Health Centre, Italapo in Ijebu-Ode, stated that the scheme, tagged: “Araya,” was launched by the state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on April 29 to provide financial protection against the cost of illness and improving access to quality healthcare services for the general population in the community.
She explained that the name, Araya, was coined to reflect a community free from all forms of diseases that pose threat to the lives of the people, adding that it was part of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration electioneering promise that health care would be free for children under the age five, pregnant women and the elderly.
The governor’s wife said: “Majority of our women will benefit from Araya as the scheme is created to attend to various health issues associated with female gender.
“Women are the mothers.
“We are the majority in the community, clan and settlement of the world.
“So our position in the society cannot be over-emphasised.”
Amosun appealed to the people of Ijebu-Ode communities to avail themselves of the opportunity of the health care service put together by the state government in the interest of the families and ensure they contribute their own quota to the scheme so that the programme could be a huge success.
