The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti state, Alhaji Halilu Pai on Monday said that the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Prof. Attahiru Jega will personally lead the team of the commission’s top hierarchy to conduct the June 21 governorship election in the state.
Pai said Jega will be accompanied by six other National Commissioners and supported by all the Resident Electoral Commissioners in the neighbouring states of Ekiti.
The REC said this while hosting a Non-Governmental Organisation, “NUJ/NBA Peace initiatives on Election.”
He said Jega’s decision to be in the state for the election was borne out of his commitment to a thorough conduct of the poll.
He said all logistics for credible election had been put in place and assured that the commission would ensure that electoral materials arrive voting venue on time.
Earlier in an address, the two leaders of the group, Mr. Laolu Omosilade who doubles as Chairman of Ekiti State chapter at NUJ and the State NBA chapter Chairman, Mr. Omodele Olawumi pledged that the NGO would do all it could to ensure success of the forthcoming election.
