Eight critically injured as Lagos CP assists accident victims

Eight persons were critically injured on Sunday in an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
However, the victims of the accident got prompt attention as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, arrived at the scene shortly after the commercial bus rammed into an articulated vehicle.
The accident occurred at about 11am.
Imohimi was said to be on observation patrol across the state when he stumbled on the accident scene.
The CP was said to have immediately initiated and supervised the rescue efforts with a handful of policemen who cordoned off the scene to enable the Lagos State Government Response Unit Ambulance Service give first aid and evacuate badly injured victims to the hospital.
The accident, which involved a Toyota Hiace commuter bus and an articulated vehicle, was said to have occurred when the driver of the bus lost control as a result of brake failure.
Imohimi warned all road users and the country’s two motor unions, the National Union of Road Transport Workers and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, to ensure their members obey all traffic laws, particularly this yuletide season, and also ensure their tyres and brakes are in top shape always.
