The Federal Government has declared January 2, 2015 as a public holiday.
This is in commemoration of the Eid-el-Maloud.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement, signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Engineer Magaji Abubakar, urged Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to pray for the peace and unity of the country.
Moro further urged all Nigerians to engage in violence-free campaigns ahead of the 2015 general election.
He also called for support for President Goodluck Jonathan as he seeks to “move Nigeria to the next level of development”.
