The Edo State Government has executed three persons on death row in the state.
This followed the approval of the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, for the execution.
The three death row inmates at Oko Prison on the outskirts of Benin, the Edo State capital, were executed on December 23, a report in Vanguard newspaper said.
Those executed were Ogbomoro Omoregie, Apostle Igene and Mark Omosowhota.
The execution came amid pleas for the condemned men.
The plea was at its peak during the regime of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Omoregie, Igene and Omosowhota were sentenced to death about 20 years ago by military tribunals under the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Decree as amended.
