As part of the Easter celebrations, a renowned scholar on comparative religious studies, Dr. Daud Amoo, will on Sunday discuss with stakeholders on the controversies surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
The public lecture, being facilitated by the Bodija Muslim Youth Forum, will hold at the Islamic Centre, Housing, Bodija, Ibadan starting from 11am.
In a statement by the Chairman of the Forum, Abdurrahman Balogun, the topic for the lecture is: “Was Jesus Crucified and will He return?”
Balogun said the topic was carefully selected to educate members of the two major religions, Islam and Christianity, on the doctrine of crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the belief of other faith-based believers.
He said the discourse was geared towards correcting some misconceptions and facilitating religious understanding and harmony among the proponents of the two major religions in Nigeria.
While congratulating the Christian counterpart for successfully completing the Lenten season, Balogun urged them to imbibe the lessons of endurance, sacrifice, tolerance and self-denial leant during the 40 day period.
Expected at the lecture are some non-Muslims, Islamic leaders, female Muslim groups as well as some youth associations.
