Members of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club on Friday turned to God in prayers as they kick start a two-day fasting and praying session to ensure total victory against Bosnia on Saturday in Cuiaba, Brazil.
Since the last match that saw the Super Eagles play a goalless draw with the Iranian side, members of the Club have been so disturbed and have turned up to God for intervention.
Part of the prayer points by both Christians and Muslims are that: Nigeria will emerge victorious against Bosnia and that the world football governing body, FIFA, will not stop the Supporters Club from playing drums and trumpets to cheer their darling team when the team faces Bosnia.
According the President General of the NSFC, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo: “We need God in everything we do.
“We have been praying, but we need to fast and pray to seek the mercy of God.
“Our boys did their best in the last game but we also need God to scale through.
“We are very optimistic that we will beat Bosnia on Saturday, but our boys need morale from us.
“We were at the stadium in Curitiba but because FIFA stopped us from playing our instruments.
“Our presence was not felt by the players and even Nigerians.
“We have tried to reach FIFA through the Nigeria Football Federation on the matter.
“Some of our players thought we were not at the stadium because they did not hear our music.
“We will do all we can to convince FIFA to allow us and we know by our prayers to God, we will be victorious.”
Over 400 members of the club woke up as early as 5am (Brazilian time) with praise and worship songs, which lasted about one hour, calling on God to see the Nigerian national team through the group stage and beyond.
While calling on Nigerians to join hands in prayers, the President General prayed God to grant the Nigerian team and members of the club journey mercies from Sao Paolo to Cuiaba, which is over 18 hours by road.
