Thousands of spectators would cough out N3,000 or N500 for the Super Eagles AFCON 2015 qualifying tie against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa billed for the Akwa Ibom Stadium on Wednesday.
The Director of Marketing of the Nigeria Football Federation, Idris Adama, who made the disclosure, explained that while the popular stand goes for N500, fans wishing to sit in the VIP area would have to pay N3,000.
Speaking further, Adama said that though the football federation was not directly in charge of the ticket sales, he can however confirm that the ticket will be on sale byWednesday morning.
He said: “I want to inform you that the state government and its agencies are in charge of the sales of the gate tickets.
“However, I can confirm to you that the sale will commence on Wednesday morning at the stadium and at various outlets, including the super markets.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the popular stand will go for N500, while the VIPS will sell for N3,000.”
Meanwhile, many fans in Uyo desperate to watch the Super Eagles were on Tuesday very apprehensive over their inability to buy the match ticket, lamenting that they have visited the stadium repeatedly without any hope of getting the ticket.
A tax driver, who identified himself as Inyang, said it would be very painful if he missed the match on account of his failure to buy the ticket.
Inyang said: “Can you believe it that I have visited the stadium five times today (Tuesday) in search of the ticket but as I talk with you, I have not been able to get one.
“I don’t even know where to go and get it now because I need it seriously because I don’t know how the Super Eagles will be playing here and I won’t be at the stadium to watch it live.
“It is a very crucial game and I want to use the opportunity to see and watch the players I have been seeing on the television.”
