Dolphins’ management signs in Senegalese central defender

The management of Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt said on Wednesday that it had completed the signing of a Senegalese central defender, Mendy Xavier.
The club made this known in statement it copied to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.
The statement was signed the club’s Media Officer, China Acheru.
It said that the arrival of Xavier was part of efforts to build a team capable of restoring the lost glory of the club.
Dolphin FC said that Xavier last played for ASFA Yennega of Burkina Faso.
The statement said: “We cannot say we scouted for him because an agent brought him to Port Harcourt.
“After the coaches tried him out, they saw his potential and began to work on his papers.”
It added that the club had also concluded registration process that would ensure the arrival of the Cote d ‘Ivoire’s midfielder, Alhassane Dosso.
The club noted that Dosso formerly played for it from 2005 to 2008 before he joined Sharks FC and later moved to Norway.
According to the club, other players who have sealed deals with it ahead of the league game against Crown FC on Saturday are Victor Alegbe and Ayobanmi Asekunuwo, both from Wikki Tourists.
It said: “The idea is to get a big squad with a lot of quality backup.
“This is what the coaches have been trying to do, and we believe we will continue to build our squad as the weeks go by.”
It said that Xavier and Dosso signed a year contract each with Dolphins while Alegbe and Ayobanmi were taken on a year loan from Wikki Tourists.
NAN reports that Dolphin started the season with a 1-1 draw against Heartland of Owerri on the first day of the 2013/2014 Glo Premier League.
