The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has been described as a quintessential leader and hope for the future of Nigeria by Captain Hosa Wells Okumbo.
The Edo State born business mogul said this at the 50th birthday celebration held in honour of Dogara.
Dogara dedicated his special day to the cause of charity, especially to the Internally Displaced Persons in the North-East of Nigeria, where he hails from.
Speaking during the launch of the book: “Dogara: A Reed Made Flint,” published by the Publisher of Ovation magazine, Dele Momodu, Captain Okumbo expressed delight to be a part of an event that would directly be impacting on the lives of the less privileged in society.
According to him, he had always dedicated his life to the cause of humanity and the downtrodden in the society.
As over N250 million was raised from contributions from Okumbo and his group of friends, the Dangote Group and other political friends and associates of Dogara.
The veteran pilot, who would be 60 years in January, described Dogara as a younger brother and a good man not just because he would be giving every penny raised from this book launch to charity, but also because his qualities as a leader had endeared so many across the political, religious, ethnic and racial divide to him even at such an early age of 50.
He further promised the continuous support of the entire business community, which he represented at the event, to every good cause that will elevate the sufferings of Nigerians.
The event was well attended by several dignitaries, including the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki; his wife, Toyin; Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Boss Mustapha, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari; Governors of Sokoto, Bauchi and Ogun State.
