Customs seizes over N12m frozen foods

The Nigeria Customs Service has seized frozen foods worth over N12 million in the South West axis of the country.

The seizure was made in the first week of the launch of operation “Hawk Descend”.

The spokesman of the Service, Wale Adeniyi, said in a statement on Thursday that the seizures were made at the Nigeria-Benin border.

The seizures consist of 1,803  cartons of the banned products.

Most of the seizures were made when commercial vehicles conveying them were apprehended by Customs Officers, Adeniyi said.

However, a significant number were made on the Iyafin Badagry waterways on the Lagoon that stretches through the Nigeria-Benin Border.

Adeniyi gave the breakdown as: Federal Operations Unit, 975 cartons; Seme Command, 461 cartons; Oyo/Osun Command, 247 cartons; and Western Marine Command, 110 cartons.
