A Magistrate’s Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Wednesday remanded one Sunday Ibrahim, at the Correctional Centre at Abolongo in Oyo for allegedly being in possession of two pistols.
Ibrahim, 22, whose residential address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of unlawfully being possession of firearms
Magistrate A. O. Enilolobo said pending the legal advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), she would not take the plea of the defendant.
She adjourned the case until April 19 for DPP’s advice.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Adegboye, told the court that Ibrahim was allegedly caught with firearm on Feb. 6, about 5 p.m. on Iwo road, Ibadan, off Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully had in his possession two locally made pistols with one life ammunition.
Adegboye said the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 3 of the Robbery and Firearms Act, Laws of Nigeria, 2004.
