The Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, has beentold by the Federal High Court, Calabar, Cross River State to vacate his stool.
Otu has been locked in a legal tussle since 2008 with a former Minister of Finance, Chief Anthony Ani, and four other persons.
Ani and the others went to court to seek an order restraining Otu from parading himself as the Obong because the process that threw him up was not acceptable.
They accused the traditional council that selects the Obong, The Etubom Traditional Council of not creating a level playing field for all contestants.
Delivering judgement today, Justice Obojor Ogar restrained Otu from parading himself as the Obong of Calabar until an acceptable election is held to fill the throne.
The court also ordered the ETC not to bar Ani and others interested in the Obong’s seat from vying for it.
