Conflicting reports over police shooting of Senator Abe

There are conflicting reports over the shooting by the police of the representative of Rivers Central Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Abe.
Senator Abe was reportedly shot by the police in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He was said to be at the head of a rally tagged: Save Rivers Rally.
While the police denied shooting Abe, sources in the state government, led by Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, who is now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, having defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, said the senator was indeed shot.
However, while one source within the government said that Abe and others at the rally were shot with rubber bullets, another said live bullets were actually used.
One of the sources said Abe is at present on danger list in an undisclosed hospital in the state and was being prepared for evacuation abroad for treatment.
However, the government sources refused to disclose the hospital where Abe was being treated.
He has not been seen by any journalist after the alleged shooting.
A former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the APC, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, on his Facebook wall reproduced the content of a message by one Bunmie Adeyemi Divinewealth, arguing that Abe was shot with live bullets by officers and men of the Rivers State Police Command, led by the Commissioner, Mbu Joseph Mbu.
The message on Fani-Kayode’s Facebook wall, unedited, reads: “The contents of OBJ’s letter has begun to unravel – unconfirmed reports says that Rivers state APC Senator, Magnus Abe has been shot by Mbu led Rivers state police officers at a rally in Rivers state.
“Preparations are on-going to fly him abroad in order to save his life!! OBJ said GEJ has trained 1,000 snipers, little did we know that police officers are among the trained snipers. OBJ said 1,000 people were penciled down for elimination by GEJ now one out of 1,000 has been hit, 999 to go.
“When will the NASS impeach this blood thirsty ogogoro President? The other day his killer squad attempted to kill the father of Kano state Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and when that failed they tried to kidnap him but failed.
“This is a taste of what GEJ is planning for the rest of 2014 because he wants to be returned as President in 2015 at all cost!”
In his own comment to the message, Fani-Kayode wrote: “I ask again what was Major Hamza Al Mustapha doing in North Korea on the day that Obasanjo released his letter to Jonathan to the press?”
