Christians in Niger pray against insurgency, false prophets

Christians in Niger State on Sunday gathered to pray to God against false prophets and for an end to the insecurity in the country.
The prayer, which was organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria, Niger State Chapter, was led by the state Chairman, Rev. Mathias Echioda, at the ECWA Goodnews Church, Minna.
Echioda blamed the crises that have bedeviled the nation on the lackadaisical attitude of some Christians towards the affairs of God.
He said during his message: “The reason why these evils have befallen us is because we have so many false prophets who have failed Nigeria today more than ever before and they are destroying homes.
“Today, we are classified as a terrorist nation because of a very few people, a very minute fraction.
“Any nation that forget God is damned.”
Prayers were said for Nigeria, Niger State, leaders, the church and freedom for those who have been abducted.
The three-day prayer and fasting, which started on Friday, ended on Sunday with Christians in black costumes mourning the killings, kidnappings, terrorism, violence and banditry that have remained unending in the country.
The essence of the event was to pray to God for an end to the challenges that have bedeviled Nigeria.
It should be recalled that the there was a directive from the national body of CAN that Christians all over the country should embark on a threepday fasting and praying for Nigeria.
According to Echioda: “We’re praying that God would save Nigeria and Christians in particular from being consumed by insurgents, terrorists, bandits, kidnapper and ritualists all over our Country.
“The prayers was concurrent across the state as announced by each Local Government CAN Coordinator and Zonal Coordinators.”
Some of the placards for the protest that followed had inscriptions such as: No! to Kidnapping; No to Terrorism; No to Killing; No to Violence; and No to banditry.
