While expressing the joy that a Christian has been nominated, the Chairman of the Niger State CAN, Dr. Mathias Echioda, told journalists on Monday in Minna that it is another step in the right direction.

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Niger State chapter, Rev. Mathias Echioda, on Sunday urged churches to follow worship guidelines issued to them in order to check the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Christian Association of Nigeria, Niger State Chapter on Saturday issued directives to Churches to use house cell-based or online service if their congregation is more than 50.
The prayer, which was organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria, Niger State Chapter, was led by the state Chairman, Rev. Mathias Echioda, at the ECWA Goodnews Church, Minna.
This is in line with directives from the national body of CAN, which admonished all Nigerians to join hands for God to heal the land.
Despite heavy downpour, pilgrims from Adamawa, Kogi and Niger States on Tuesday defied the cold to climb to the Mount of Transfiguration to pray for Nigeria and its leaders.
The event, which was organised by House on the Rock, Church, Minna, Niger State, in collaborating with gospel artists over the weekend, had over 7,000 persons including politicians, in attendance.
The state Chairman of CAN, Rev. Mathias Echioda, made this appeal at the weekend at a press briefing at the CAN Secretariat, Minna.
The Christian Association of Nigeria on Thursday berated the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, for excluding Christians in his recent appointment of Principal Officers, saying: “The trend is an outright discrimination on Christians in the state.”
Rev. Mathias Echioda, the CAN Chairman in Niger, gave the advice during the interdenominational service to mark the end of 2018 universal week of prayers in Minna on Sunday.
