The Coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has said he spent $4,000 to feed the home-based Super Eagles at the CHAN Championship in Rwanda.
Oliseh said this was as a result of the fact that the Nigeria Football Federation was cash-strapped.
Oliseh spoke in an interview on Thursday.
He said: “I spent $4,000 to feed the team because the food in camp was not good enough. I used my personal funds to get the team going for the interest of the nation.
“We have family men who have been working hard for 50 days, but who couldn’t afford to buy a bottle of Coca-Cola. It was unbearable. And now they are going back home with nothing to give to their families.
“I have one big fear – I hope when we call the players, they will not refuse to play for Nigeria. It’s scary but real. I have received phone calls from them asking about what they are being owed.”
