Cash and carry politics destroyed Nigeria – Fasehun

The Founder of O’odua Peoples Congress, Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, has passed a damning verdict on the ‘cash and carry’ politics currently bedeviling Nigeria.
Fasehun, also the leader of the newly formed Unity Party of Nigeria, wondered philosophically why an army of locusts, masquerading as patriots, have eaten up everything in sight at local, state and federal levels.
According to him, Nigeria is suffering in the hands of “generation of vipers”, whom he said “have dominated the country’s political space.”
Speaking as a Guest Speaker during the 7th Anniversary cum Award Conference, tagged: “Gender Balancing: The Place of the Nigeria Woman in the 21st Century Politics,” put together by Kate Onianwa, a lawyer, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on Thursday, the OPC chieftain maintained that an army of politically-savvy Nigerians must be raised to support honest, compassionate and visionary women to take over power if Nigeria must outlive its present predicament.
Flanked by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s wife, Deaconess Roli Nere, and President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Ethics and Values, Dr. Sarah Jubril, Fasehun said Nigeria is anxiously waiting for patriots who would build and fulfil the aspirations and humanity of the people.
He said: “I hereby advocate that this conference should establish a vanguard of female stakeholders to visit and convince women of substance in order to rally them to pool resources into a foundation, whose raison d’etre is to provide financial and structural backing for women in politics.”
He said Nigerian women 50 per cent equity representation would remain a ruse and its countrymen continue to wallow in want and deprivation if women failed to provide needed resources for female aspirants nationwide to thrive.
“Since our expected saviours have betrayed us and politics and politicians have turned around to be bereft of integrity and achievements and Nigeria has never been rich in all its 53 years, with oil revenue at an all-time high, women, your strength lies in the instrumentality of the social media as your ally for political struggle in this 21st century,” he insisted.
Corroborating Fasehun, Jubril said: “The absence of justice, ethics and fear of God, is the cause of gender imbalancing in Nigeria.”
She urged women to be determined in their struggle for effective representation at the local, state and federal levels.
