Determined to curb the outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus, the Cross River State Government has put in place mechanism to screen over 12,000 fans in Saturday’s Super Eagles tie against Congo at the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
Cross Rivers State Commissioner for Sports and Youth development, Honourable, Patrick Ugbe disclosed this in a chat with the media on Friday.
Ugbe informed that the state government are aware of the deadly virus on the continent and are ready to face it headlong during the Super Eagles game.
“We know the screening of the fans would be tedious but we are appealing to everyone to bear with us.
“The entire process is to ensure we are all safe and also sure that people seating beside you are safe.
“We are also going to ensure that the Congolese team are screened before coming into the state,” said the commissioner.
Speaking further, Ugbe assured that all apparatus have been put in place to host a successful game.
Match tickets have since been on sale in the streets of Calabar. The match kicks off at 5pm.
