Nigeria’s duo of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Football Club and Plateau United are through to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
MFM pipped visiting Real Bamako of Mali 1-0 in Lagos to progress on a 2-1 aggregate score.
The Nigerians drew 1-1 in the first leg played in Mali, and after a goalless first half, Chijioke Akuneto scored the goal which ended as the winner for MFM 10 minutes before full time.
He connected a well delivered cross by Abayomi Lawal with a firm header which left the goalkeeper of the visitors stranded between the post. They hanged on to seal a well deserved win for the church backed side.

Similarly, Nigerian champions Plateau United beat Eding Sport 1-0 in Cameroon to set up a meeting with Etoile du Sahel in the last round of CAF Champions League qualifiers.
The 2016-17 Nigerian champions were class above their opponents from Cameroon as they beat them but home and away in their champions league qualifying rounds.
Plateau United put three past Eding Sport in Nigeria when they tackled the Cameroonians two weeks ago and didn’t sit back in Cameroon as they went for the win.
Raphael Ayagwa scored the only goal that determined the encounter in Cameroon.
Up next is a clash with Etoile du Sahel, the first leg will be played between March 6 and 7 and second leg between March 16 and 18.
