Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, and his predecessor, Vincent Enyeama, have been omitted from the 2015 CAF Awards list released on Monday.
It could be recalled that the Nigerian internationals that currently ply their trade in CSKA Moscow (Russia) and LOSC Lille (France) respectively made the list of the 2014 CAF awards.
Ahmed and Enyeama were previously included in the initial 37-man-shortlist before it was later screened to a 10-man-list.
Nwankwo Kanu was the last Nigerian to have won the award with 46 votes since its inception in 1992, beating Samuel Kuffor of Ghana to second place, who accumulated a total of 44 votes.
Last year’s winner, Yaya Toure, also made the CAF list.
If he wins it again, the Manchester City midfielder will surpass Samuel Eto’o to become the first footballer to win the award for a record fifth time.
Toure will have a handful of top players to contend with in his bid to win the illustrious award.
Those who are likely to give the Ivorian a good chase include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Borussia Dortmund, Black Stars and Swansea striker, André Ayew, and Yacine Brahimi of Algeria and FC Porto.
Others in the list are Aymen Abdennour (Tunisia & Valencia), Mudather Eltaib Ibrahim ‘Karika’ (Sudan & El Hilal), Mohamed Salah (Egypt & Roma), Sadio Mané (Senegal & Southampton), Serge Aurier (Cote d’Ivoire & Paris Saint Germain) and Sofiane Feghouli (Algeria & Valencia),
The winner will be decided by votes of the Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.
The awards gala will be held on January 7, 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.
