A business woman, Deborah Ikoya was on Tuesday docked in a Grade I Area Court, Karu, Abuja, for alleged defamation of character.
The police charged Deborah, 48, who lives in Dagbana, Nassarawa State with defamation of character.
The Prosecution Counsel, Ade Adeyanju told the court that the matter was reported at the Jikwoyi Police station by the complainant, Timothy Giwa who lives in Jikwoyi phase II, Abuja.
Adeyanju said that the defendant called the complainant a witch on the phone.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 391A of the Penal Code.
He said that during police investigation, the defendant confessed to the crime.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He said that the surety must be reasonable and reliable.
Maiwada ordered that the parties should sign an undertaken to live in peace.
He adjourned the case until March 29 for mention.
