INEC to APC: We’ll continue with Kogi election, replace Audu

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it would continue with the Kogi State governorship election, which it declared inconclusive on Sunday.
INEC said despite the death of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prince Abubakar Audu, all it would do will be to conduct the supplementary election in the 91 affected polling units.
It gave the APC the go ahead to replace Audu, having been officially notified by the party of his death.
The statement, signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Augusta Ogakwu, reads in part: “The Commission has, after due consideration of the circumstances, decided as follows:
“(i) to conclude the process by conducting election in the 91 affected Polling Units as announced by the Returning Officer;
“(ii) to allow the All Progressives Congress to fill the vacancy created by the death of its candidate;
“(iii) to conduct supplementary election on 5th December, 2015.”
