Breaking: Kogi Deputy Governor impeached

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, has been sacked from office by the State House of Assembly.
Achuba was impeached on Friday by the Assembly.
This came on a day the report of the committee set up by the state Chief Judge, Justice Nadir Ajanah, to investigate allegation of gross misconduct against Achuba was submitted to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole.
The Leader of the House, Hassan Bello Abdulahi (Ajaokuta State Constituency), announced the decision to sack Achuba from office.
Abdulahi said this followed careful consideration of the report of the Committee that investigated the allegation against the former Deputy Governor.
The Committee, headed by John Bayeshea, probed the allegations levelled against Achuba, including the face-off with Governor Yahaya Bello.
Abdulahi said the report was received, studied and deliberated upon and an unanimous decision was arrived at to impeach Achuba and “he therefore stands impeached.”
