Goods and other valuables worth millions of Naira were destroyed on Sunday as the sawmill at Awori in Abule Egba area along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway was razed by fire.
The raging inferno started from the sawmill section directly behind the ATM gallery of Guaranty Trust Bank PLC.
The fire extended to other sections of the planks market.

The cause of the fire, according to one of the traders in the sawmill, was that a high tension wire cut and dropped, after which it caught fire.
Helpless sympathisers stood by and watched how the wild and raging inferno ravaged the sawmill and market.
The Eagle Online observed that there was palpable fear on residents and property owners of possible extension of the fire on their buildings, offices, goods and other valuables.
Another source of worry is that petroleum pipelines are buried under the ground – running through the sawmill to other areas.
The fire was still raging till 4pm.
As at the time of filing this report, no emergency responder or security operatives had arrived at the scene.
The Eagle Online reports that the nearest Fire Service at Ile Epo Oke Odo is about two kilometres away from the sawmill.
