Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum has visited the headquarters of Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission in Abuja to discuss how both parties can partner to attract investments to the state.
Prof Zulum talked about the nexus between economic development and security.
He explained that given the success at managing insurgency in the state, he is committed to attracting investments to the state. Successfully pitching Borno State as an investment destination will generate employment opportunities in the state.
According to a statement by the commission, Governor Zulum announced his interest in establishing a sustainable Investment Promotion Agency in Borno, and to actively work on improving the ease of doing business.
The agency will be staffed based on merit and will work with NIPC to project the state’s investment potential, particularly in agriculture and mining.
Responding, the Executive Secretary of the commission, Yewande Sadiku assured the Governor of NIPC’s commitment to supporting Borno State.
She noted that her first visit to the state, in February 2017, inspired the Book of States published by NIPC as part of its efforts to proactively attract investments to each state.
“NIPC will work with Borno State to set up its Investment Promotion Agency by providing the necessary guidance and support to ensure its functional establishment and proactive readiness for investors.”
She applauded the Governor for leading the drive to attract investments to the state.
