The Speaker of the Borno Starte House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Goni Ali Modu, was on Thursday impeached and removed from office.
Modu, elected on the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, was accused of being subservient to the executive arm of government.
He was specifically accused of being a lackey of the state Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima.
Members of the House also described their former speaker as being inaccessible.
The motion for his removal was moved by Hon. Ayumu Lawal Ngosha, member representing Damboa and seconded by Hon. Shettima Kullima, member representing Marte.
Modu was immediately replaced with Honourable Abdulkareem Adam Lawan, also of the ANPP.
Lawan represents Guzamala State Constituency.
