Boko Haram pledges allegiance to IS

Nigeria’s terrorist group, Boko Haram, has pledged its allegiance to the Islamic State, another terrorist group operating in Iraq and Syria.
The IS is also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
Boko Haram, in the audio statement on its Twitter account by its leader, Abubakar Shekau, pledged its allegiance to the IS.
It also encouraged other Muslims to pledged their allegiance to the group, led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, also known to his followers as Caliph Ibrahim
Shekau said in the audio message, which was yet to be verified as at press time: “We announce our allegiance to the caliph… and will hear and obey in times of difficulty and prosperity.
“We call on Muslims everywhere to pledge allegiance to the caliph.”
