Hajiya Sadiya Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has commiserated with the families of the more than 30 people who lost their lives in a boat mishap in Bauchi.
Farouq, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, described the incident as “sad, tragic and unfortunate”.
“Loosing so many people in that circumstance is a huge disaster to Bauchi and Nigeria as a whole.
“I am deeply saddened by your loss and express my heartfelt sympathy to you.
“We can only imagine the pain you are going through as loosing loved ones is one of the most difficult experiences a person can have.
“As we mourn this loss and pray for the repose of their souls, I encourage you to be steadfast in faith and hold on to the Almighty Allah for strength and comfort.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that no fewer than 30 people lost their lives in a boat mishap in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi.
The incident occurred Monday morning when a boat conveying passengers to their farms capsised.
