Cases of ballot box snatching have been reported in at least three local government areas in the ongoing gubernatorial election in Adamawa State.
This is just as results that have come in so far shows that the Action Congress of Nigeria and the Peoples Democratic Party are the two parties fighting for the top position.
The three local government areas where sources told The Eagle Online that cases of ballot box snatching have been reported are Shelleng Local Government Area, Maadagali Local Government Area and Mayobelwa Local Government Area.
The immediate past Governor of the state and candidate of the PDP for the election, Alhaji Murtala Nyako, is from Mayobelwa Local Government Area.
Results released officially so far at the ward level showed that the ACN and PDP are leading.
The ACN, however, appears to have the edge.
The candidate of the ACN is Markus Gundiri.
It has been tales of woes from the camp of the Congress for Progressive Change, which has a former Military Governor of Lagos State and a former High Commissioner of Nigeria to South Africa, Buba Marwa, as its candidate.
The party believes it has been unfairly treated as election materials allegedly arrived late in its strongholds.
Curiously, Marwa, who was reported to have cast his vote at about 2.45pm, commended INEC for prompt delivery of election materials.
And this was also the position of INEC that said the election had gone without hitches.
Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, had earlier today told The Eagle Online that the materials for the election arrived on time and that voting also commenced promptly.
Idowu expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election.
