Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, and former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Alhaji Abubakar, on Friday called on Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari in the fight against the insurgency.
While praying for peace and unity, at the Eid Prayer ground Bypass, Minna they also called for peace and unity.
It should be noted that Nigerian Muslims joined the rest of the world to celebrate this year’s Eid el-Fitri, marking the end of Ramadan fast.
According to Babangida: “I call on all Nigerians to rally round and support the government in whatever effort it is making towards fighting the insurgency.
“And also, with this effort, the economy will be buoyant.
“We must all pray and support this government to move this country forward.”
Abdulsalami charged all Nigerians irrespective of their religion to be vigilant and maintain the peace.
He said: “We pray for Nigeria.
“May the peace and blessing of Almighty Allah be with us.
“We must all come together, be vigilant so that we can maintain the existing peace.”
In a similar vein, the Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, sued for peace amongst Nigerians.
Bello said: “Inspite of our differences and challenges, we must live in peace and harmony with one another.
“I pray Almighty Allah to guide and protect us.”
