Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is yet to make any public statement 72 hours after the Kano State Government dethroned Muhammad Sanusi as Emir of Kano.
Although his party, Peoples Democratic Party, has condemned removal of Sanusi as Emir of Kano by the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led government, Abubakar, who is regarded as the leader of the party, has yet to comment.
Checks by The Eagle Online on the Twitter handle of the 2019 presidential candidate of the PDP showed he last tweeted three days before Sanusi’s removal.
The Tweet, on the International Women’s Day, read: “On this #IWD2020, I celebrate all women who are striving even against all the odds. However, women do not have to strive when we can create enabling spaces for them to thrive. On this day, I add my voice to the collective demand for women empowerment. #EachforEqual.”
One of the reasons believed to have led to the removal of Sanusi was his perceived support for the governorship candidate of the PDP in Kano State in the 2019 elections, Abba Yusuf.
Ganduje survived a tight race in his bid to get reelected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, with the PDP pursuing the case up to the Supreme Court.
